This blog should be of interest to those involved in the art of bonsai and its many sub-cultures, and those who have a general interest in gardening. I will be documenting the development of my trees, in addition to anything else I feel would be of interest to the readers of this blog. My specialty is Acer palmatum (primarily dwarf), but I also have experience with Carpinus and many other species. I'm currently working on a bench/pedestal project, and in the upcoming weeks, plan to document the creation of a Japanese-themed garden using a confined space. I encourage anyone to offer feedback to my posts.

Loren, your site is very interesting and I look forward to keeping up with the progress--especially with your Japenese-themed garden. Unfortunately, my knowledge of bonsai is very limited and I can't offer any helpful suggestions, just lots of support!
Mr. Buxton, your Bonsai photos, diagrams, and comments are most interesting and enjoyable. While the purpose of your blog is probably not intended to be instructional in nature, I wonder if you might just suggest a tree type that would be most appropriate for a first attempt at dwarfing? The locale is the Piedmont area of North Carolina--halfway between the mountains and the coast. Many thanks
P.S. The Pedestal Project looks most interesting. Will comment more directly on it later.
